You really are zapped. Let see, as root you have tried:
2) upgrade
4) check and fix
3) uninstall
17) full uninstall of all FrontPage information
How about trying
1) install
BTW, have you looked at the files in frontpage/version4.0/serk. It is a pretty
complete set of documentation.
If you are going to be manually setting up FP, you probably need to have the
GUI, Control Panel, FP item disabled so that Cobalt does not over write the
changes you make.
Also, frontpage/version4.0/fp_install.sh is an install script for installing
the frontpage extensions.

Does not sound good for the home team. Might try option 1 and fp_install.sh to
try to avoid a restore.

Be happy to help any way that I can with the disclaimer that this stuff is all
very new to me and most of the time I am guessing rather than using any
expertise or experience.
FP on the Qube2 has been a thorn in my foot front git-go. It would have helped
if they had just created a standard install of the extensions and enable the
html administration tools (along with having the apache-fp patch installed in
apache).
