Re: [cobalt-users] Are RaQs here to stay? (opinions wanted)

OK, I cant resist... I wasn't going to show my hand yet, but I think
the folks at Sun need to speak up here. I *really* do like the RaQs,
and I *would* like to stay with them, but...

Ensim Webppliance (250 sites) - $600 (retail)
http://www.ensim.com/solutions/webppliancels.shtml

Look at the feature set, its everything I WANT in my RaQ...
http://www.ensim.com/pdf/webppliancels/datasheet.pdf

"home built" 900Mhz AMD based system - $680.05
http://www.allstarshop.com
Enlight EN-2100SX1R 1U Rack Mount 3 Drive Bay w/ 150W Power Supply -
$213.95

IBM Deskstar 60GXP IC35L040AVER07 40 GB ATA/100 Hard Drive - $104.00

AMD Athlon Thunderbird K7 - 900MHz Socket A CPU (OEM) - $62.00

256MB SDRAM 32Mx64-7.5 PC-133 3.3V Unbuffered DIMM - $18.95

MSI 6378 KLE133 Socket A MicroATX Motherboard w/ Audio & Video - $64.00

D-Link Full Duplex 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet NIC - $10.95

Adaptec 29160 Ultra160 SCSI Host Adapter - $195.25

So, thats $1280.05 for the software and hardware.

The BASE RaQ4 with (450Mhz) 64MB RAM, 20GB HDD, SINGLE ethernet, and NO
scsi is $1399 from Sun...

Where are the new systems? Tech support has been great on the existing
systems (even seen a few Sun folks here on the list), but no new
products or features since the acquisition - and that was many moons
ago...
