Hi Thom (and group)

There seem to be other developments for that good old raq.
Check here http://www.bluepanel.org/ no download unfortunately but seems very
nice. Currently only for the raq550 but rest is soon to arrive.

Wonder wheter this would work together with the qubalt project or wheter it
can be modified to fit in to it....

Guess Ryan has to answer that one.

Maybe we'll even see someone develop a CP that walks and talks like a RaQ
and would interface to more than one flavors of the OS.

Heh, didn't even see the post. I've written the interface entirely from scratch as there's quite a few things I just don't like about the cobalt codebase, and never have (given, it has some quite cool stuff too). Given I'm the lead of a project such as Qbalt, I could extend the codebase as widely as I wanted, but my goals are entirely different and I'd probably end up rewriting it all over time, anyway.

I've certainly been looking at the source code and modeling Qbalt features from code concepts, but there's still huge differences (the cobalt interface directly modifies files, whereas qbalt uses several abstraction layers to read/write files, based on definitions for the daemons being used).

In the short term, implementing something like bluepanel would certainly be easier, but I'm confident Qbalt's strategy will pay off hugely in the long term. Just makes development a heck of a lot more lengthy, as has been evident.
