make sure the serial console is enabled. power up the raq while
holding in the password reset switch next to lcd. you should see
"console on". if you see "console off" power off and repeat processs
to toggle it back "on".

also make sure you are using the console port (single dot under it i
think) vs the 2nd serial port for ups, etc.
