You better check your serial ports!
If you are running windows
Bring up two hypert windows.
Set one up for com2 and one up for com1
Then connect your Null Modem cable between Com1 and Com2
You should be able to type in one window and see it in the other.
That way you will know the cable and the serial ports are OK!
