Ahhhh.  Hmmmm.  In that case, he might consider a VPN or tunnel
if his ISP doesn't block those.  I've heard some ISPs block IPSec
or similar on "residential" connections, which I think is rather
slimy.

Yup.  IMHO, ISPs should at least consider allowing outbound
25/TCP for those who have static IP addresses or netblocks.  For
dynamic customers, forget it.

Yes.  Personally, I prefer using SASL... but Netscape 4.7 is a
bit obnoxious when it sees that it _can_ authenticate, and
decides that it _must_ authenticate.  IOW, if one has clients
running NS 4.7 email, a flag day is required to implement SASL.
Bleah. :-(
