I assumed it caused problems and a few months ago went as far as hacking the
code to force it to allow a re-install to a 550 just to see what happened so
I could later investigate modifying or building onto the code to fix it.
I'd have to check my notes, but I know I never got past hacking it for
testing purposes and didn't make any real progress.

I've done it as well, though I've had more problems with the results of that
particular migration than 3=>3, 3=>4 or 4=>4, but that just might be due to
random chance. BTW, my statement that you quoted at the top of the email
was poorly worded. Note that later in my email I stated that the 550=>550
cmuImport does not work (that was the migration the original poster was
interested in) - I didn't mean to imply that cmuImport doesn't work for
other migrations.

Jeff, you mentioned to the original poster that you could provide software
that handles backups and restores for a 550, but you also asked in the same
email "Has anyone done CMU backups on the RaQ550 and then looked at the
files it creates to see if everything is there?". So I'm curious, can you
share what you've done or would propose doing since you seem to be saying
that you don't know what the CMU files consists of for the 550, but you're
capable of some kind of restore for a 550 (manual?).
