That would be me.....and the idea behind forming the alliance was to
build a large enough of a voice to be able to actually *accomplish*
change within the industry - before our respective governments step in
and do something. Kind of like policing our own neighborhood.....not
necessarily as cops but as good neighbors - because I fear that if we
in the industry don't do something.......

Funny thing this thread should re-open - this morning I receieved UCE
from a company called teleseeker.com....looks like they are in Athens,
Greece - and this is one of the groups that resells bulk email lists
and software.

What I fail to understand about some of the larger ISP's is that they
allow UCE through their networks - and since many of us tend to block
IP's/domains from where UCE originates - sooner or later it would seem
that many of the these ISP's would be blocked from large sectors of the
internet, and their "normal" clients would wonder why their mail is
either rejected or never reaches intended recipients. When will these
large ISP's learn? As I had stated a few weeks ago, our company
actually changed long distance providers after going round & round with
a well-known long distance/ISP that didn't (or wouldn't) do anything
about UCE orginating from their network.

Our company policy is very strict when it comes to UCE - and we ensure
that all of clients are aware of it - we simply terminate any client
who violates the policy by sending UCE through our network.
Fortunately, I've only had to do it once in the last 5 years.

I still feel that the solution to UCE lies within the industry. We
simply can't afford for our governments to step in and attempt to do
something about it.

Mike
