Context is available, which also indicates I made a mistake:

http://www.mail-archive.com/isp-webhosting@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/msg00145.html

It was on isp-webhosting, not this list.

DK> Now you're psychic?

Or have been around long enough and made enough posts to know
what happens. Note the ***if they had any pitches*** part.
Considering the lack of public response from others, the logical
conclusion is that any other contact was made off-list. Thanks
for playing.

Yes, I also agree that post was _much_ worse than anything Jeff
has ever posted. That person was pointed out, and discussed
adequately.

Indeed. And others will see the post in the archive. If
everyone capable of offering something posts on-list, the lists
get overrun with noise.

DK> 99.9% of the world doesn't make such claims on-list since
DK> they're not on this list. Your statement makes no sense.

It makes perfect sense. There are others who do not constantly
wave their banner on-list. I know and know of several.

No it isn't. One could DIY. Might not be the "original package"
that was requested, but neither is the commercial one. Stating
availability would have been fine. Giving details that could be
discussed off-list is pushing it.

DK> The list admin has posted on this subject and Jeff's replies

DK> http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-users/2002-June/071664.html

I'd not go so far as to say "clearly fall within". In fact, no
free help was given, the message was entirely commercial, and
details were being given on-list.

DK> > I also clarified that I wish Jeff no ill will, and am not
DK> > singling him out more than others.
DK>
DK> Yes you are. You are only singling him out.

No, I am not. If someone else claims to offer colo, yet the
network can be taken down by an errant/malicious configuration,
I'll point that out, too. I'll point out when someone is at a
facility that has not done their infrastructure homework. I've
done so in the past, and probably will do so again.

A network that depends on proper client config is dangerous. The
7007 fiasco and 6461 STP incident demonstrate this painfully
well.

DK> I've never seen him critcize you on the list.

Maybe it was another list. I didn't keep track of it, and
frankly am not too concerned about it. We've exchanged both kind
words and scoldings both on- and off-list.

If Jeff disagrees with me, he's more than welcome to return the
favor and tell me off.
