Optionally, you could keep your catch-all account, setup the spam account
with 1mb of disk space, then whatever emails go to it will automatically
be bounced with an error message.
A few things, I did set up the spammer address with 1mb, not for the reason
you said, but that is pretty good idea. The only drawback of relying on
this is a full mbx still implies it is a good address.
But I think I found a good solution, and it could even help with our
catchall stuff. I use the catchall mostly for the purpose of knowing where
my addresses are sold, I don't want to give Gateway my real address or I
would never know that the >1000 spam messages I have gotten due to Gateway
was caused by them. I filter all incoming Gateway mail to a gateway spam
mbx (I use Eudora).
Instead I am just going to add all the aliases *I do want* to have to one
user ID and just eliminate the unlimited address. So if I make up an
address for Gateway I will just have to remember to add the alias.
Just seems like a cleaner way to handle the problem.
I still would like the other method to work, but heck, I just need to solve
a problem.
