Optionally, you could keep your catch-all account, setup the spam account
with 1mb of disk space, then whatever emails go to it will automatically
be bounced with an error message.
Instead I am just going to add all the aliases *I do want* to have to one
user ID and just eliminate the unlimited address. So if I make up an
address for Gateway I will just have to remember to add the alias.
I took some time, looked through my in-box and decided what a good group of
names to keep is and just added them as aliases and eliminated the
catch-all. I think this is a good solution, an extra step in that I have to
add any new aliases I want to use, but a fraction of the amt of work
overall to eliminating all the spam each day.
I'd still like to get the other method working, but it isn't worth much
time. One person wrote to me privately:
-------------
In the /etc/virtusertable prior to the catch-all definition,
just put the addresses you want caught and give them an action of:
REJECT no such user
-------------
but I'm not sure of the format to use so I don't want to mess with my
virtusertable ... but if I get the format from someone I will test this
method.
Paul, have a write up on this? :)
Oh, Paul, I thought about your write up, the only thing that scared me was
trying to save a little down time and to loosen screws first ... from a
static standpoint, and the fact that most people I know would loosen the
drive screws too much and drop them onto a running motherboard. Just a
thought for safety.
