Chuck,
If the file is a ".tar" extension, you should tryinstalling from a shell.
I'm almost certain that cobalt servers require the file to be in a .pkg
format, which includes install scripts and commands to automate the
installation.

Hope this helps. I'm sure someone on the list can broaden my response for
you.
