I have used Yabb awhile back and I switched to Ikonboard. Much
better and they have utilities to import Yabb settings and
messages, categories and such.
Yabb uses flat file type of database where Ikonbaord (IB) uses
mySQL database end which is muuuuch faster. It also lets you
see (when logged in as admin) the time and cycle speed it took
to load the search result, site load and much more.
An example would be:
//
Admin stats
Execution Time Less than 1 sec.
CPU Time: 0.19
No. Queries 8
Mod Perl? No
Server load 0.12
Current UNIX time 1019001069
//
If you were to run many Forums on one server where every-one
would want a Forum than the RAQ might not hold up. I like
the fact that on Cobalt RAQs mysql is easy to install. There is a
pkg out there. IB is not all that hard to install and you can
even administer IB via mySQL database. It's fun.
Ou.. IB is also FREE.
