[cobalt-users] .htaccess not working

We have .htaccess security for our admin area.

I am using IE 6.0.2600.0000 (128-bit) with latest
patches and can not login. 

This is the message I receive when I fail login:
"This server could not verify that you are authorized to access
the document you requested. Either you supplied the wrong
credentials (e.g. bad password), or your browser does not
understand how to supply the credentials required."

Other users CAN access the admin area using the same
user/pwd. I have tried browsers at work, at home, different 
browsers, Opera and Netscape. Still I can not login.

I am 100% POSITIVE that I am entering the correct user
and pwd. I have the same user/pwd for FTP.

Any ideas???
