Hmmm, I wonder how many of "us" would allow someone to "bash"
us on our own listserve.......
Personally - and I mean that - I believe Sun is doing a
"reasonable" job. I believe they found themselves in a
position where they are selling a product (one time profit),
and then providing continuing support, updates, fixes, etc that
bring them absolutely NO additional value. Basically I have a
whole rack of Cobalts - and have not paid a dime to Sun since I
purchased them - but have religiously updated each one every
time Sun sends me that friendly little "updates are available"
message.
I have a "similar" "product" from another company that charges
me $2400.00 a year for email based support and the last two
times I have called or written, have been told basically
"tough, not on our list to do"....
Bottom line is that we can be "constructive" or "destructive".
Tone I am hearing right now is the later, and while possibly
viewed as "justified", is possibly not well placed. I have
always thought this forum was a place for us to "help" each
other - with our Cobalt products - regardless of Sun's position
on the particular "issue" or problem at hand. I still
regularly see "Sun" participation here, which tells me someone
there is interested in some form or another.
Basically what I am hearing is that you bought the candy bar,
ate it, and now want the new one with 10% more peanuts also....
Ok, sorry, I'm off my toad-stool now....
