[cobalt-users] raq4i vs raq4r

Hi there,

The RaQ 4i comes default with 1 HDD with the option of adding an extra
harddisk while the RaQ 4r comes default with 2HDD with software RAID-1
(mirroring) function built-in.

To the end user, there is no difference at all but to the system admin,
there is a level of redundancy available in case of HD failure.

IMHO, from a HSP point of view, I would prefer to run 2 RaQ 4i with the
extra HDD added in for each box and running StaQware for failover. Do take
note that the StaQware can only run on RaQ 3i and 4i as it basically behaves
somewhat like a RAID. Doing this gives me more HD space compared to using 2
RaQ 4r.

However, the RaQ4r gives me the function of failover to another HD within
the same box taking up less space. :)

Hope this helps!
