I noticed the same problem and corrected it by entering the DOMAIN
information also in mail server alias. This can also be valid for user, try
to put the username also in the email alias of the user itself, this may
correct the problem. I dont know if this involve other problem, but it
corrected a lot of problem in my case.

Be sure the domain name is pointing to your DNS, and the MX records pointing
to the good IP or A pointer. Be also sure your cobalt use good DNS.
If you transfered stuff over, be sure to give enought time to your network
to update the information, if any domain transfer with a registrar you can
go up to 5 days 72 hrs. (i dont think this is your case but just to be
sure). Usually the message USER unknow mean it reach the good palce but did
not find the box !
Same thinkg happen if you try to send a email to a user that really doesn't
exist, it will return the same message.

Try this, send a email to one of "yourself" user from the cobalt smtp, the
mail should stay locally and be redirected to the good mail box.
Once done, try to retreive your mail, if the mail server is running ok you
should retreive the mail. You can also try to set a catch - all email to see
what happen ???

Also try with several user to find out if the probleem is to all domain or
to a single, to all users or to a single one, at this time you may only
delete and recreate it.

If you use sub domain, you may find you error there.

Question here for you:
If your domain and host are www.xxx.com
and you also have w3.xxx.com
And worse, binded to the same IP, and both have a user alias WEBMASTER

sending a email to webmaster@xxxxxxx will be catch by which one ??
