Hi,
I was trying to install PHP4 on a cube2 machine. Since I was new to the
machine I read through the different posts and chose the method outlined
by Michael Ackermann (now I am not blaming you Mike!! :) ).
Okay so I telnetted into the Cube 2 and Since PHP was not installed on
the machine, I installed PHP3 using the rpm available from the Cobalt
ftp site. That worked smoothly and I ran the phpinfo() test script and
everything was working smoothly.
With that done then I installed the Flex RPM and when I tried to run
./configure, I wasn't able to locate the APXS script in the /usr/sbin
directory. So I read the archives again and found that I had to install
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com//pub/experimental/apache-devel-1.3.3-1C3.mips.rpm
which would give me the APXS script (James Spahr). I installed this and
this also went smoothly.
Then I was able to run ./Configure and then I ran the make utility but
did not run "make install" as suggested by Micheal. Instead I copied
the libphp4.so file from the .libs directory into the /usr/lib/apache
directory. I did the changes to the httpd.conf file and the srm.conf
file as suggested by Micheal. Then I created a sample script and then I
wanted to stop the httpd daemon and restart it. But when I ran httpd
stop I got the following message: "Floating Point Exception - core
dumped". Now I am stumped. The public website is no longer running and
I can't even get to the admin area.
I would appreciate it very much if somebody could tell me what I did
wrong and how I can rectify it. Is there anyway in which I can return
the system to the PHP3 state? However I do want PHP4. So how do I go
about get everything working properly again.
I hope that the information provided above is sufficient, in case it is
not, please do let me know and I will provide any information you think
is important.
I look forward to hearing from one of you soon. Otherwise I am going to
be in a big soup since the public website is down!!!!!!
Best Regards
Feroze
