No reason to feel dumb.

When I search the archives; I first try to use the exact verbage I would
use in an email to this list. If I get an error like "Danger Will
Robinson! Yer box is about to explode"
I copy that exact error message in the text box. Generally the first 10
on a page have the answer. And, if not; if I've asked: How do I set up a
site on a virtual server? see what it brings up. Someone may ask the
question better than you; start a new search with their words. Try to be
as specific as possible.

I tend to stick in my phrase and when the results come up, I right click
the result to open in a new window. I also search by thread and by
subject. ( when something comes up pretty close to my question). Since I
keep an eye on the more knowledgable folk and what they have to say; I
will search by author (talk about coming up with perls of wisdom there!
There have been many a night that I've followed certain people that I
got alot of answers ahead of time. It's also a good way to stumble
across commands, of course I managed to forget what I was initially
searching for.....)

And lastly; copy and paste. Create yerself a file; and if you find info
on danger will robinson copy the best replies; separate em with a line;
and go back and read it when done.

It takes time. Too much sometimes. I work full time and I have a family
and I'm trying to get a business going. I'm busy I don't have time. Who
cares? I'm learnin from it and this is all that counts.

Hope this helps.
