I'd love to agree with you, Michael. As one of those people who try to
answer questions, though, I hope you'll appreciate my point of view.
I don't remember the "details" of everything I know. If I didn't check
references I might give you the wrong location, the wrong address, the
wrong thing to delete, etc.
So when I answer you, I must do research, even if it's on something I
know. If I don't I may very well make a mistake; possibly one that's
fatal for your RaQ (and I've seen a lot of fatal mistakes on this list
over the years).
So if it's something I know has been covered on the list, why should I
take the time to look it up again? Why can't the person who asked the
question, and who needs the answer, look it up? Currently I spend about
three hours daily on the list. I really can't afford any more time on
it.
