This is the route we are migrating towards, our isp that runs the co-lo has
provided 3 big dedicated mailservers for us, and other co-lo customers, to
route mail through - albeit optionally and this just relays the filtered
de-virused mail to the raq. We'll still be running mailscanner as a belt and
braces approach, but it should result in an actual fall in the server load
since we won't be processing either so much spam or detecting so many
viruses.
This then gives us a main mx record plus 2 backups against what we had
before which was just the single mx on the raq.
Nice thing about it as well is they are doing it as a free service included
within what we already pay!
