RE: [cobalt-users] RaQ3, installing software problem

Congratulations <smile>. You've got my "rant of the week" award <smile, again>.

If you know enough linux or unix to run what you call a REAL unix operating system, then you know enough so that you can leave the Cobalt web-based gui Interface AND Cobalt Patches alone, and treat your cobalt box like any Inten-based Red Hat Linux system.

And if you don't, you'll need to hire an admin anyway, so you might as well just hire an admin for the box you've got now.

Of course you may get more satisfaction from "parting it out" <smile>.

I was foolish enough to get and install the 2.2 patch. Basically that was when we started to notice some problems. So far Cobalt systems has not impressed me one bit. Last night I was on the phone with one of their techs for about an hour, then I was hungup on, oddly enough when I tried to call back, got the message that Cobalt was closed. Since the tech was in my raq3 working on something I have no friggen idea what he did.

I thought that I would never say this, but I am considering using my raq3 for parts, i'd rather deal with a REAL unix operating system, Commercial BSDI, at least I have technical documentation, and BSDI has always been there to help, they don't let you hang.

At least I can thank Cobalt for something, hell I have a nice memory module, good size hard drive, CPU (if they didn't glue it to the board) and cute blue plastic that I think I will melt down and mail back to Cobalt.

HONEST COBALT, I'm really not F R U S T R A T E D, see, I'm smiling :)
