right! telnet.. never thought of that.. actually, I was thinking something
along the lines of less typing more clicking...

RH Linux 6.1 installed with Gnome desktop. Currently using gftp, which is
very nice. There is another client installed but I haven't tried it.
Basically I am wondering if there is a way to connect my Linux box in Japan
with our RaQ in the US, and do basic admin from X windows. I am sure there
are many ways to do it. And I'll probably waste untold hours trying to find
solutions that work for me, but I was hoping to hear from someone who has
found a good solution already.

Samba is totally new to me. I had seen it around, but never really needed
it. I am so busy that unless it is the absolute next thing I _have_ to do,
then I generally don't have time to test the various utilities out there.
Now Samba is required for our LAN and a new system under development. I
think there's a better way than Samba though.. (to connect two unix
machines) afterall.. no Microsloth involved..

It wasn't a matter of the OS it was the machine. Old video card.. low ram..
slow CPU.. I like freebsd.. but I am planning to start building small-mid
business class client server hardware/software packages.. and plan to use
Linux for a variety of mostly business reasons.
Anyway.. still seeking good ways to do what the Cobalt GUI claims to do..
(actually can't knock cobalt for trying.. its just our customer packages
don't align with cobalt's hosting philosophy.. so we can't really use the
gui...)
