[cobalt-users] [Raq2-users] HTTPD User

I have several linux boxes and only on my Raq2 does this particular event
take place. I've been told that it is "normal for linux" to do this by
some people at Cobalt... but I find it odd that it ONLY happens on my Raq2
and not my other linux machines.

Many of my web page html files and also several of my cgi script files are
having their permissions altered. Regardless of who created the file or
what site group they were in, the files are being changed to owner: HTTPD
and group: USERS.

At first it was no big deal... because I could just log in as root and
change them back. But now it is beginning to interfere with the operation
of my scripts as they require certain permission settings, and when they
change to uid: HTTPD, the script can no longer access the file because it
doesn't have rights. Short of setting every file on my machine +777, what
can I do to ensure this doesn't happen any more.

Also, is there a reason why this IS happenning??? Maybe if I could see
some positive benefit for this happenning, I wouldn't be so adament towards
stopping it.
