The advantage to that is that files cached by the user aren't downloaded
again. e.g., if the user visits www.domain.com and the page has several
pictures, the user returns visiting domain.com instead of www.domain.com,
those cached images on the users machine won't be used. It can save you some
bandwidth by doing that.
I guess one disadvantage is you can't register both http://domain.com/ and
http://www.domain.com/index.html with some search engines.
