Dave,
Just an idea: why not use a ticket system?
http://ticket.sourceforge.net/ or http://scripts.sheddtech.com/ssm/
Alternatively, the contents of the mailbox could be parsed and a number could be added before/behind each subject line but that requires custom programming...

Subject: [cobalt-developers] Appending an incremental number to e-mail subject lines?
Is there some sort of script I can run for a user that will uniquely number
each email received?
We handle on average 50-80 e-mails (with attachments) per day, and each one
is from a customer that is looking to have work done on the file, so they
need to be organized and easy to find.
Normally we use date/time sent or received to differ them apart, but just
recently with daylight savings and all, it created a few mixups, and we have
always wished that we could just have a number in the subject line to each
email, so its really easy to find.
Any Ideas??
Dave
