I use a utility called mailfiler (www.mailfiler.com) that can automatically add unique identifiers to each users email and allows you to show the thread regardless of where the mail is filed.

Alternatively, the contents of the mailbox could be parsed and a number could be added before/behind each subject line but that requires custom programming...

Is there some sort of script I can run for a user that will uniquely number
each email received?

We handle on average 50-80 e-mails (with attachments) per day, and each one
is from a customer that is looking to have work done on the file, so they
need to be organized and easy to find.

Normally we use date/time sent or received to differ them apart, but just
recently with daylight savings and all, it created a few mixups, and we have
always wished that we could just have a number in the subject line to each
email, so its really easy to find.

Any Ideas??
