Yes, we have the same issue with not being able to CHMOD files after
applying this update (thankfully we only installed it on our testbed server
incase of problems).
An interested point to note: On the Cobalt website they say that the update
is to bring proftpd up to:
proftpd 1.2.0rc2
However, if you look in the package, the rpm is for:
proftpd-1.2.0rc1-c1.i386.rpm
I've tired looking into a fix but cannot find anything yet. The uninstal
doesn't work for the fix, so I'm toying with the idea of restoring the
proftp rpm from the cobalt site if one exists <sigh>.
