Jeff you state:
"One way is to always have an extra system around (or perhaps an extra
hard disk), configured as an up-to-date RaQ of the same model you host
on, with only the default site set up, but with all the extra software
you normally use."
Should I only have the default site because of potential conflicts/errors
with cmu restoration if the sites previously exist?
I am today in this exact situation. I have one raq4 box online and a warm
spare, but I cloned the harddrive using drive backup v6 so as of today my
warm spare is a duplicate. I had thought of using rsync to keep the spare
up to date until I read where you wisely point out that this would allow a
hacked machine to become duplicated. I already use raqbackup.sh to ftp the
live machine (including extra directories) to my lan raid server.
So per your instructions, if I understand them correctly, I should delete
all of the sites from my spare except the default and then test a cmu
restore? This would save me the effort of installing rsync on both
machines and the horror of two hacked boxes.
Am I missing anything here?
Thanks
John
