I'm a big fan of Dada/Mojomail.
I mail to 25,000 folks on my list each week. At first I dumped majordomo in
favor of bulk_mailer via the command line. It was cumbersome to use but I
liked its ability to batch send.
For the past 6 months I've been using mojomail instead. It too offers batch
sending via sendmail and it offers me a nice web front end for
subscription/unsubscription. The process is much more intuitive then
majordomo. I lost lots of possible subscribers because the majoromo
subscription confirmation was too picky. It failed to subscribe folks
because they used html mail or didn't copy paste the confirm code right.
As for needing a newer Perl to use SMTP. I use the sendmail option instead.
Its faster. I'm not certain what conditions would require you to use SMTP
instead of Sendmail. But if that¹s a need, than mojo/dada mail is a problem
for you.
