But, I added a bunch of other /home directories that I'm using with Samba and I don't see them in the tar files that raqbackup creates (viewing with midnight commander). Is this not possible to back up directories that are not part of the cobalt users system?

no, they should all be in the file hostname.of.source.dirs.tar.gz

Thanks Daniel.

I appreciate that service you provide. Thanks much!

I looked in the /home/backup directory where it all goes on the backup server (destination) and don't see the directories that I have in the script. I do see the www.domain.com and www.domain.com.bak directories, and when looking at them, I see the domain.com.cmu-xml-files.tar.gz, the groups-domain.com-private and public.tar.gz, plus the testftp files, and the users- files. The *private.tar.gz files contain logs and certs. The public contains just the index webpage.

This server is also the lan dns server and I couldn't find the /etc/named directory from your default setup anywhere in the tar files either. I've looked through the raqbackup logs on the source raq and the only error I see is a number of (10) linefeed errors in ftp which may be a clue. But all else looks normal.

cheers, Jim
