By default, the RaQ will 'answer' for the full hostname+domain name in
someone's browser (www.nomealaska.org). If someone enters just
'nomealaska.org' the server won't acknowledge. So you would enter
'nomealaska.org' in the 'host/domain alias' field to make that
happen.
This field is also useful if you own multiple domains and want just
one to 'answer' for all of them.

Like web, the RaQ will default to accepting email for
user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Nobody sends mail like that, so you'd want
to enter 'nomealaska.org' as an email server alias, so mail to
user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx will work. (Same rules as web alias apply for
multiple domain handling).

As long as there are "A" records for both nomealaska.org and
mail.nomealaska.org pointing to the IP address on the RaQ, you should
be ok.

Nope, only if you want to allow other IP/domains to use your server as
an outbound SMTP server... Generally you shouldn't need to touch
anything there for "normal" hosting setups.

Hm. This should happen automatically when you 'save' the user...

So smtp.gci.net is set as your 'smart relay server'??

Internet connectivity and DNS hosting provider are irrelevant (as long
as they are all set up correctly!)... Nothing 'manual' should need to
be tweaked in "Relay hosts/domains". Email server alias and domain
alias should both be 'nomealaska.org'
