   He, he...you've GOT to be kidding. I wasn't, "flaming this group," I was
critiquing those who can't think past a .pkg or .rpm file. If that's how you
think (and it does appear so), consider yourself chastized.

   Horse-pucky. The point of a Cobalt is to have an "appliance" that is
exactly the way _Cobalt_ says it should be. Cobalt doesn't support the
version of MySQL the person is interested in. By your methodology, the
machines would _only_ contain official Cobalt .pkg files, which would allow
Cobalt to "maintain" the machines. Of course, you wouldn't have anything
other than the functionally Sun thought you needed, whenever Sun gets around
to supplying it, but that's ok for you. Some of us prefer our machines to do
a little bit more, thanks, and aren't afraid to read a man page or three to
get it there.

   (*sigh*) If that's the best you can do, you should be ashamed of yourself.
No wonder you thought my previous note was a "flame." Gees, you wouldn't have
lasted ten minutes in the old days of the Internet flamefest.
