You do not need a .pkg file. You do not need an .rpm file. You can easily
install from source and avoid all these problems. Read the archives carefully
for a couple of minor "gotcha's," but if you're administering a server, you
should learn to do something as simple as install a daemon from source. This
nonsense of depending on someone else to create a .pkg or .rpm file (who may
or may not have the same setup as you do, who may or may not configure things
the way you would like, who may or may not properly test the package, and who
certainly do NOT have a financial interest in your success or failure) is
just plain silly.

Using a Cobalt does NOT remove from you the responsibility of learning how
to be an administrator. Simple installs from source is part of that function.
It just ain't that friggin' hard.

I feel much better now. I'm only sorry it won't do a lick of good, and by
next week someone else will be having problems installing from some complex
.pkg file instead of spending a few minutes installing from source.
