I've got a similar problem. I have samba running on this raq4 and added
users with the useradd method on command line. This raq is used for an
internal company network and for now, mainly just file sharing.
Now that I am starting to think intranet and would like the users to
have access to some of the features- web and whatnot.
I started researching meta-verify in the archives but don't really
understand the big picture with linux and cobalt. I ran it though (
meta-verify -f), and the script ran through the list of users. But it
returned the following errors for each user:
margaret | ERROR (invalid home directory)
margaret | ERROR (does not exist in system)
margaret | ERROR (entry not in database or system)
When configuring samba, I also added machine accounts. When I ran the
script it actually added the machine account for one user I had added
via the Cobalt gui when I first started playing with it. I don't really
want it to add all those to the list but will live with it if there's no
way not to. For example, I had user jim on the cobalt site users list
and after running the script, now there's also a jim$ user, which is the
machine name. (Names changed to protect innocent.)
Not sure what to do next. Any advice to get users into the gui? I can't
do it by manually entering into gui as it says user already exists, as
one would expect.
Cheers,
