We know that, and we've been doing it for years to "sort" usernames
between domains. However it's another small "issue", and it's a new
limitation; it wasn't on previous RaQs, so it should have been
documented.
It's hard to sell a client who's just moved a few hundred sites to what
he thought was a better machine that he now has to work around a
limitation that had been removed from Linux years ago.
Until and unless someone shows me a good reason why it was done, I can
only presume this is a bug.
