Just as well, that's what I've got! I'm not sure how much you know already
so I'll make it simple:
1. Go onto the server and click on the domain you want to add SSL for.
2. Make sure that SSL is enabled for that domain by ticking the box in site
settings
3. Go into the SSL settings for the site
4. Fill in the boxes at the top with the details of the company you want
the certificate for.
5. Select "Generate Self-signed Certificate" and click "Save Changes"
6. You'll then get a load of garbage in the Certificate Request box.
7. Go to the Thawte site and go through the steps to buy a certificate. I
can't remember what it's called but it should be the $199 one. It is pretty
obvious what you need to do on this site.
8. Copy the information from the Certificate Request box on teh Raq into
the box where it tells you on the Thawte site. It will then come up with
all the information you entered into the boxes at the top on your server.
You must make sure you copy EVERYTHING including the dashes and BEGIN and
END bits.
9. Complete the steps on the Thawte site. You'll have to send Thawte all
sorts of information, or get the company you're developing the site for to
send it.
10. Wait 3 to 5 days until you get your actual certificate.
11. Copy the certificate that Thawte give you and paste it into the
Certificate box on your Raq4
12. Select Use manually entered certificate and click "Save changes"
It should all be up and running. It might be worth you getting a new IP
address for the site that you're going to be running the SSL on.
It really is very simple. I've done 2 now and it's one of those things
that's more scary to think about than to actually do.
If anything here isn't clear then post back and I'll try and give more
detail. I'm off out now but will be back online in a couple of hours if
nobody else can help but I'm sure someone will come to your rescue :o)
Andy
