I successfully installed MyMail over the weekend:

It seems as though it will get the job done. It offers user-controlled
account management, subscribe/unsubscribe, etc. It's based on
php/mySQL/sendmail.

I imported a list of almost 600 addresses from another system we were
using and am going to send the first message this week to our members.

I'll let you know how it works, if you like. Just send me your address as
I deleted your original message. (Ditto for anyone else that's
interested.)
