Jeff, thanks for the info. I¹ve done the smrsch thing already.

I placed bulk_mailer here;
/usr/adm/sm.bin/bulk_mailer
When the url is executed I get a response. The response is below.

I know that spammers use bulk_mailer and can appreciate your help here.
May I impose upon you for help privately, so the info doesn¹t lead to an
increase in spam? My list is part of crimescene.com and it is

They are, Thom. The original poster, Joseph, indicated he'd already
seen that but was interested in customizing the ENTIRE welcome message.

I'm glad Joseph stumbled on it himself; I've been a bit behind in
reading the list. However at least now there are some good answers for
the archives.

Did you put the entire program there? That's not what you're supposed
to do; what you're supposed to do is put a link to the program there.
See the other entries in /usr/adm/sm.bin to see what I mean.

> I know that spammers use bulk_mailer and can appreciate your help here.

Bulk mailer was designed before spam became a problem; it's a legitimate
email tool. For some reason you're of the impression that at least some
of us don't believe that, but I don't remember seeing any specific
complaints against you.

You could except for two things...

(1) I generally charge for private help and give away help on the lists,
within my ability and time constraints, at no charge.

(2) I'm NOT an expert in bulk_mailer.

I'd highly recommend you join either the majordomo list at Great Circle,
or a general mailhelp list.

No.

It's a linux limitation as to how many groups a user can belong to. I
think it's something like 23, but i'm not sure. The RaQ uses group
ownership for write permissions in the web directory.

Use SCP2 as root. But note that it's a slower protocol and that lots of
people don't recommending using scp2/ssh as root.

While this is not an open webmail list, I believe that this question is
fully appropriate given the wide use of Open Webmail by RaQ users.
I am currently using a RaQ 4r. I need to move a site to another RaQ 4r and
want to restore the open webmail files for a user. I've recreated the
account and user on the new box and used the restore feature to restore the
users files. However, the files are being restored to site14 while the new
site is site1. This is due to the fact that, unfortunately, I had to
recreate that site before others. I used cp -rpf at the command prompt to
move the files to the appropriate folder in site1. When I then try to login
as that user, I receive the following error:
Your request didn't contain the proper session ID cookie -- access denied!
Everyone's help will be greatly appreciated.
Very truly yours,
Chris Broomall

Hi there

Does anyone know if it would break the functionality of MySQL if I set up a

files from the group 'home' to 'nobody' (leaving the user as 'mysql')?

Thanks

Modify sendmail.cf to use _only_ address-->account mappings found
in virtuser. Make sure virtuser tables have _all_ email
addresses you want to work.

IIRC,

R<@> $+ $: $1
R<!> $+ $: $1

in SParse1 are the offending lines to comment out. Edit with
caution if you choose to proceed.

"sendmail -bt" is your debugging and testing friend.

That should be the default action on a RaQ4 I believe. As long as no
other domains have an alias of david@ mail addressed to any domain
except the one where david is the user name should accept mail for that
name.
I just tested it on my RaQ using one virtual domain with an existing
username from another virtual domain:

553 5.3.0 <username@xxxxxxxxxx>... No such user here

> > patch Wed, and just discovered that Cobalt
simply
> > changed the permissions on /usr/sbin to 700.
>
> I just checked ours, and they are 755.
> How did you do the security update,
> commandline or with the GUI??

That's odd -it must have not been the patch after-all.
The system is fresh, it's my box, but I had my NOC
reload the OS on Friday, and when they did they
patched it up with all the available pkg's before
releasing it back to me. I encountered that problem
with /usr/sbin having permissions set to 700 (which I
changed to 755) as well as an error from sendmail
regarding:

sendmail[21865]: error: safesasl(/etc/sasldb) failed:
Group readable file

I changed permissions on sasldb to 600 and that took
care of that. I checked the archives and saw other
posts regarding the same. My NOC must be using a funky
restore image.. :-P

Thanks for the help guys, but I'm still having trouble.

The only files I can find for php (linux) on php.net are ".tar.gz" which
are the full php source for install...
The only binaries I can see available are for windows !??

If it's not too much trouble, could someone please post me a link to the
linux binary ?

Thanks & Sorry if I'm just being really daft here,

Hello,

We need to send more than 2000 mails with a php script. We use the "mail"
function.

The script stops at about 180 mails sent. I have the system message "Too
many open files".

The same problem appears with this shell script :

#!/bin/sh
f=0
g=1000
while [ $f -le $g ]
        do
        f=`expr $f + 1`
        echo $f
        echo "salut"
        ls -al | mail -s test-unix me@xxxxxxxxxx
        done

I tried to increase the max number of open files (# ulimit -n 8192, am I
wrong ?), with same bad results.
If I put a "sleep 2" on the loop, everithing is working fine, but this is
not a solution....

Any idea ?

More infos :

I tried :
# echo "16384" > /proc/sys/fs/file-max

and my script stops at 784 sends.

sendmail opens a new process for each mail I send : I had 750 sendmail
processes !
Can I limit the number of sendmail processes ?
Can I set the /proc/sys/fs/file-max to a higer value ? What is the max
acceptable value for a RaQ4 ?
