I installed the RaQ4-All-Security-2.0.1-2-15787.pkg
patch Wed, and just discovered that Cobalt simply
changed the permissions on /usr/sbin to 700.
What they didn't think about, is some of the programs
under /usr/sbin needs higher permissions set on the
sbin folder or they fail. For example, I noticed
errors in my logs after the install for users with
Majordomo lists trying to access "smrsh".
SYSERR(mail): Cannot exec /usr/sbin/smrsh: Permission
denied
I tried also adding some secondary DNS records to the
system and the system complained about permissions on
named-xfer.
can't exec /usr/sbin/named-xfer: Permission denied
In the end I had to go in and fix Cobalt's muck-up by
changing permissions on /usr/sbin back to 755 (tried
750 first) to allow access to these programs (again),
which are definitely needed on the system. :(
