The end of October, I'll be moving from Tulsa to Tampa and will be taking my
server with me. I have a plan on how to move the server without much/any
disruption and was hoping someone would look over my strategy and make any
suggestions on how to make it work better or smoother.
Current server is a RaQ4, Alternate server is a RaQ.
Restore the RaQ and update to a RaQ2, apply all the updates/patches, install
OpenSSH and OpenWebmail. Basically cloning the RaQ4.
Since I'll be sharing a house in Tampa, I have already ordered the phone
line and will be ordering the DSL next week and getting the IP addresses and
the rest of the numbers I need.
About a week before moving, I'll do a complete backup and CMU from the RaQ4
to the RaQ2, change the IP address, netmask and gateway. Overnight the RaQ2
to Tampa.
When the RaQ2 arrives, my housemate will attach the power and DSL and call
me. I will then login to the IP address and make the changes in the GUI to
match the new IP numbers.
Login to Netsol and make the changes there so it will propagate to the RaQ2
and let the RaQ2 take over from there.
I should be able to take the RaQ4 offline and get that ready to move.
Move (AHHHHH)
Get to Tampa and setup the RaQ4 with the same numbers as the RaQ2, CMU from
the RaQ2 to the RaQ4 and take down the RaQ2.
Am I missing anything? Can I do anything better?
Thanks in advance.
