The data center wants to charge a $100 just to pull the box to have a peak,
which I may have no other choice but to do. But does this sound like a fan
gone bad, or maybe a hard drive that's going south, nor either? I checked
the manuals and it states a normal operational environment of up to 40
degrees C, so I'm guessing it's okay where it's at for the time being. Any
ideas or suggestions from anyone?
Since you indicate it's just one unit, a fan is the likely suspect. Though
sometimes the fans fail to start, or otherwise seize up, ask your colo for a
hard reboot (power switch on and off) to try to kick start your fan, see if
that helps. Obviously, they should do that for free. If they have to replace
the fan that will take about 15 mins, 20 including the re-rack. Whatever you
do, don't order the fan directly from Sun. They're outrageous. I have spares
you can have at my cost if you need them, just let me know.
Good luck,
Brandon
