[cobalt-users] Advise please (was bad kernel)

I had my Raq4 restored, kernel problem gone

I want to apply patches up to the OS2 pkg
(RaQ4-en-OSUpdate-2.0.pkg)
but while doing so my kernel got hosed at the
Kernel Update 1.0.1 
(RaQ4-All-Kernel-1.0.1.216C28III.pkg)
is there a way to backup, then if need revert to the original kernel
or are the patches not worth the troubles?

keep in mind this Raq is on the other side of the country from me
