Re: [cobalt-users] Chat client server program selection/questions for RaQ3

I've searched archives, searched the Internet, asked peers of mine with
experience, etc. and still have very little info. To recap, here are the 3
packages that are currently being most heavily researched - DigiChat,
RealChat, VolanoChat, with RealChat being the client's favorite at the
moment. So, if any of you know of someone running Chat Program X on a RaQ3
(or another RaQ) and can answer any of the above questions it may help my
client and I narrow down the potential programs. It may even be possible
that the project criteria will change if one product is deemed to be far
superior in performance, functionality, etc. even if some of the above
criteria are not met. I'm trying to avoid my client paying me to install
and test a number of solutions only to find that none are suitable. And
unfortunately, though I've been doing RaQ consulting for several years I've
not had the need to delve into chat server solutions running on a RaQ until
now.

If it _must_ run on a RAQ then I am guessing that you face the following real world options...

1/ install an IRC server on the raq

2/ code something bespoke from the ground up.....

I looked at this exact same challenge about a year ago, chatspace was a good commercial solution for a nt server, there were no solutions (that I found) for linux that weren't horrible refresh-every-sentence or just plain horrible, and yes I did try all three that you mention above, didn't like any of them, so settled for the free chat.planetz.net solution in preference between an either / or choice between chatspace on an nt box or flashing page refresh on linux
