It depends what you need. A lot of the java ones don't do user
authentication (password protection) which is something we required for the
chat we are running. This one does.

aye, the only non java ones i have ever seen that didn't flicker is
chatspace, which is commercial....
chat planetz.net do a decent free java one though, works with irc too
