I don't know, to be honest. I would suspect they will say the product
maker (Sun) is responsible for warranties on OEM drives, but I don't
want to answer that for them.

We "upgrade" drives in shipping products as Seagate EOLs the smaller
ones "out from under us." So when Seagate killed off the 20GB HD, we
moved to the 30GB model. Sun's policy on supporting EOL products is to
be able to supply parts for a certain timeframe after the product is no
longer for sale, so yes, they would do a "last time buy" for a specific
product's parts at the time of EOL. RaQ4 is now shipping with 40GB HD,
so that's what we'll most likely end up stockpiling when RaQ4 EOL is
announced.

I don't know where they got the 20GB HD they are offering now.

You get a 1 year hardware warranty by default with any Sun Cobalt
product. Extended warranties (1 or 2 year extensions, for a total of 2
or 3 years warranty) can be purchased AT THE TIME OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE
FROM SUN. That's also how the "Spare in the Air" replacement program
works: purchase it at the time of purchase of your product, and for the
life of the SITA contract, you will get a new unit overnight shipped to
you, and you then have 30 days to return the defective unit (or be
charged for it).

If you have a hardware failure on a product within 1 year, call the 800
number and request an RMA.
