Well, I just made my first trip to the knowledge base and found the 
solution.  Here's the solution according to the cobalt knowledge base:

There are 2 things to check:

1) Make sure that the domain.com is in the Email Server Aliases under the 
Site Settings for the Virtual Site.

2) Also make sure that host.domain.com is in the Host/Domain Aliases filed 
in the Email Server Parameters under Server Management --> Control Panel --> 
Email Server Parameters.

My problem was that in the Host/Domain aliases under email parameters, I 
didn't have the domain listed as "www.domain.com".  After I stuck that in 
there, the aliases started working.
