Well, you're probably going to have to find a few books. =) Linux books
abound, but there are others you'll need, depending on what you want to
do with your XTR.
I'm not on an XTR, so I've no idea what is included with it, but you
should plan to invest some time curling up with a good MySQL book
(I happen to like DuBois' "MySQL"), Apache, Samba and Sendmail. I
generally like O'Reilly & Associates books for this, but their titles
for the latter three subjects seem to be geared for the intermediate
users, rather than novices.
I'm sure others on the list will have suggestions and opinions on books
on these topics.

PS: Apologies for not being able to answer your immediate question --
I know neither ASPs or webmastering (hence my not being able to
refer you to any Apache texts), so I'm not sure if this works:
DirectoryIndex main.asp index.html index.htm home.html home.htm
in /etc/httpd/conf/srm.com. Again, I'm sure others will correct
the above line as is their wont. =)
