When I'm told, "We're doing this because that's what Scott
McNealy says works," I think that top management has some effect.

Perhaps many/most companies are having turnover.  But that much?

If you claim that upper management is irrelevant, then it follows
that you believe Cobalt engineers are to blame for the lack of
new products... a more significant vote of no confidence IMHO.

The changes might make no difference.  Things might improve.  Or
they could deteriorate.

I think that most of us can agree that Cobalt, like all entities,
has its flaws.  Some of these have become sizable stumbling
blocks.  You cite lack of new product as one.

I think that Jeff (for whom I do not speak, and do not want to
represent myself as attempting to) merely expressed concern over
an event and the as-of-yet unknown repercussions.  That's what I
got from it, anyway.
