Hello,
I have received reports about open relay on our Qube 3 server, (Sun Cobalt OS 6.4, I have
applied all updates).
I check the configuration and this is what appear on the Email Servers Settings (Advanced):
POP Authenticated Relaying: (checked)
Relay Email From Hosts/Domains/IP Addresses: (list)
domain.com
000.000.000.00 (real ip address)
128.1.1.0 (network ip address)
Receive Email Addressed To Hosts/Domains: (list)
domain.com
The POP Authenticated Relaying was not working, then I visit the cobalt support website and
applied the script listed there to fix this problem, (the one that is available for download
not the one typed on the post itself) the script runs ok, and follow the instructions without
errors, but still the Authentication do not appear to work as should be.
The situation with the open relay continues and so far I have deleted more or less 75.000
messages from /var/spool/mqueue/q* but this cannot continue for ever and 75.000 is nothing
compared to the messages that the spammers send.
Please if someone in the list can help me with instructions on how to fix this problem or what
else to do. I really appreciate the information.
Thanks for your time and help,
Juan Manuel Rico
